The annual Marin Open Studios
(MOS) is an event dedicated to supporting and promoting
Marin. MOS offers the public self guided tours of Marin
County’s artists studios and showing spaces. The event
includes an exhibition of all participating artists in a
centrally located Gallery open for a month during MOS.
A celebratory Gala Preview
provides an opportunity for artists and the public to
meet and preview a sampling of the work.
An Artists Guide with enclosed maps will be available at
this central location as well as distributed by Marin
Magazine to 38,000 Marin residents. A team will also be
placing them in local libraries, restaurants, and
MOS was founded in 1994 by artists and sold to the Marin Arts
1996 who had continued the well loved successful event
for 17 years. This year the renowned event has been
taken over by the MOS Committee including one of the co
Founders Kay Carlson, with Dorallen Davis and supported
by Peggy Haas. This Grassroots Committee has a large
volunteer base. The revitalization of MOS has gathered
260 artists who will be opening their doors for the
first two weekends in May 2016.
"Having a great passion for the arts and connecting
with the community is a gift that keeps giving back.
Open Studios happens because artists open their doors to
give the public a glimpse of lives dedicated to art. We
are all helping to create a culture of young artists
looking at their creative future."
